Banquette seating can make a hotel restaurant feel integrated and comfortable, but it is less forgiving of poor coordination than a loose chair. The frame, wall interface, upholstery, cleaning routine and replacement method must be considered together before production.
Measure the installed condition
Confirm wall lengths, corners, skirting, floor levels, service routes, table clearances and access for delivery. Record the finished seat height, depth, back angle and kick space. If the banquette is built in modules, define the joint positions and how they will be aligned on site.
Specify the frame and foam
State the frame material, support points, foam or spring construction, edge treatment and access panels. The supplier should understand whether the seat is fixed, lift-up, removable or intended to be replaced as a complete module.
Choose upholstery for food and cleaning exposure
Restaurant fabrics face spills, wiping, body oils and frequent movement. Document the fabric code, composition, abrasion evidence, stain-care instructions and any treatment requirement separately. Confirm that the cleaning protocol is compatible with the approved fabric and finish.
Fire-performance documentation
If the project requires flame-performance evidence, identify the applicable destination or client requirement and the complete construction that must be assessed. A fabric-only document may not cover the finished banquette with its foam, lining, frame and fixing method.
Maintenance and replacement
Ask how a damaged seat or back can be removed without dismantling the restaurant. Maintain a record of fabric lot, foam specification, module dimensions and fixing details. This makes future replacement more predictable and protects the visual consistency of the dining area.
Banquette approval checklist
- Coordinated plan, elevations and module schedule
- Seat dimensions and table relationship
- Frame, foam, support and access details
- Fabric, cleaning and performance documents
- Site fixing, delivery and protection plan
- Approved sample or first-off module record
