OEM/ODM Development Process
1. Product Brief
Send drawings, reference images, intended use, dimensions, materials, quantity, target cost, destination market and timing. A complete brief reduces quotation changes later.
2. Feasibility Review
The product and production teams review construction, materials, tolerances, tooling, packaging and test requirements. Alternatives can be discussed where the original specification creates avoidable cost or production risk.
3. Quotation and Scope Confirmation
The quotation should identify the product specification, included customization, sample charges, order quantity, packaging basis, commercial terms and validity period.
4. Sample and Approval
The sample is evaluated against approved dimensions, appearance, comfort, function and workmanship. Requested changes should be documented before the approval sample is signed off.
5. Pre-Production Control
The approved sample, drawings, bill of materials, color standards, labels and packaging requirements become the production reference.
6. Mass Production
Production status and material readiness are monitored against the agreed schedule. Specification deviations should be reported and approved rather than accepted informally.
7. Final Inspection and Shipment
Final inspection verifies quantity, appearance, dimensions, function, labeling and packaging. Shipment proceeds after the required release process is complete.

Protecting Product Consistency
Repeatability matters more than a visually acceptable first sample. A reliable program controls approved materials, color standards, critical dimensions, construction, hardware, upholstery, functional checks, packaging and change records. Buyers should maintain an approved specification pack and update it whenever an agreed change is made.
OEM/ODM FAQ
Can you develop a product from a photograph?
A photograph can support an initial discussion, but accurate development normally requires dimensions, construction information, materials and confirmation that the buyer has the right to use the design.
Do you accept private-label packaging?
Private-label requirements can be reviewed as part of the RFQ. Provide artwork, label position, barcode format, carton marks and instructions before production.
Can we order a sample before mass production?
Sampling can be included in the project plan. Sample scope, charges, revisions, shipping and approval criteria should be agreed in advance.
Can materials be changed to meet a target cost?
Alternative materials or construction may be reviewed, but all changes should preserve intended use, appearance and compliance. Final choices must be documented.
