For this Hong Kong hotel project, the priority was to make every guest-room square metre work harder. Baotian supplied a two-batch custom seating program centered on sofa beds: compact by day, practical extra sleeping capacity when opened at night. The result helps hotel operators add flexible accommodation without giving up the everyday comfort and appearance expected of a guest room.
Space-efficient sofa beds for hotel rooms
Hong Kong guest rooms often require careful planning around beds, work surfaces, circulation and luggage. A sofa bed gives the room two uses in one footprint: lounge seating when it is closed and an additional sleep surface when it is opened. This approach is particularly useful for family rooms, triple occupancy, extended-stay guests and properties seeking more flexible room inventory.

Project scope
- 230 custom sofa-bed sets supplied across two production batches.
- Custom dimensions and upholstery specified for the project layout and design direction.
- 191 custom upholstered accent chairs supplied across two batches.
- 15 units of the 0735 sofa configuration, with the chaise shortened to suit the available space.
- BS 7176 documentation requested as part of the project requirements.
Designed around usable room space
The sofa-bed program was produced to the project’s required dimensions and fabric selection rather than treated as a standard catalogue item. This allows the design team to balance a comfortable seating position, a usable open-bed configuration and clear circulation around the room. Before production, the required closed size, open size, mechanism, mattress specification, upholstery and delivery constraints should all be confirmed against the approved room plan.

Supporting custom seating
The room program also included custom upholstered chairs and a modified 0735 chaise-sofa configuration. These pieces were made with project-specific sizing and fabric choices so the seating package could work cohesively in its intended hotel setting.

Production and delivery coordination
Baotian coordinated the furniture across two batches and prepared the order for dispatch. For hospitality projects with upholstery, sleeping mechanisms and documentation requirements, approvals should cover the final specification, material selection, packing method and test-report scope before production release.
